Tetris Didn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Might Solve This

As any prominent prize-giving event nears, you'll find a demand to include additional classifications to honor unsung work and delight the passions of enthusiasts with niche passions.

Another commentator made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for board games, this being someone's personal cause. However, I must insist for pushing forward just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification supporting my request stands as crucial above others. The demand is this: There should be an award type for logic-based games.

Categorizing Game Types

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and it will always generate discussions resulting in unclear classifications. It's understandable that film award organizations avoid this approach. However, it represents an unavoidable compromise for the industry of gaming, which are so diverse they barely qualify a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Collectively, these award types actually cover numerous genres, and you can find room for numerous titles.

This doesn't apply to puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: structural challenges from a specific release, intense tile-matching in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser got overlooked in any category that year
  • Another imaginative release was excluded during that ceremony
  • Well-received sorting experience received no acknowledgment that year
  • Only a few puzzle games barely qualified for independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

Frequently they represent modest productions, yet the craft behind logic titles is of massive significance. Well-known matching games count as most popular titles worldwide continuing this trend for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with well-known building titles competing to become most purchased experience; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, while interacting with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. You could fill a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, given the need to exclude so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these include experiences that otherwise have no home in important events. Logic title developers are working at the challenging frontier of video game design, producing among most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Similar to movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. We shouldn't delay decades.
